Profile

Salt Brah is the founder of the Open Wings Foundation and captain of the INFINITY. Born and raised during the Alster War in Hamburg_2, he first gained public attention through his illegal concerts and mass uprisings. In Neu Berlin, he—alongside Ciao Von Bella and Funky.blend—serves as one of the three administrators of the Tempelhof Diskoord.

Salt Brah was born during the Alster War of Hamburg_2. Little is known about his family. Unreliable sources suggest that, as a youth, he received piano training and displayed a notable affinity for historical traitors such as Judas, Brutus, or Nero.

He made his first public appearances in the abandoned warehouses of Hamburg_2, using hacked Game Boys connected to guitar amplifiers, cranked up to 140 decibels.

The aggressive atmosphere of his concerts frequently drew police intervention. During one such show, Salt converted a guitar amplifier into a high-frequency transmitter, hooking it up to an improvised modulator. The resulting signal generated frequencies that attracted several hungry wolves from the overgrown outskirts of the city.

As the police struggled to restore their communications, Salt delivered a speech against the local authorities; the audience responded by hurling chairs, tables, and pieces of stage equipment at the officers.

Following the incident, an unknown person spray-painted the phrase “A Brah KaDah Brah!” on a nearby wall. The graffiti became a symbol of the Hamburg_2 uprisings and established Salt Brah’s reputation as a revolutionary figure.

In the years that followed, his performances increasingly evolved into political rallies. Salt spoke out against surveillance, local oligarchies, and all forms of authority—further cementing his status as a leader.

After the founding of New Berlin, Salt left Hamburg_2. He publicly stated that he wished to distance himself from “the cockroaches up there,” though it is likely that he was primarily drawn by the political openness of the new city. New Berlin had not yet been cast into rigid administrative forms, and social structures were being renegotiated on a daily basis. Salt may well have seen this as an opportunity to secure a position of power advantageous to himself within the newly founded city.

In Tempelhof, he played a role in establishing the Tempelhof Diskoord, which—under his guidance, along with that of Ciao Von Bella and Funky—evolved into New Berlin’s primary independent shipyard and repair facility.

He founded the Open Wing Foundation, which he coordinates from the Diskoord’s radio tower; he also serves as captain of the INFINITY, a vessel he built himself using components largely scavenged from the Sentinels.

His entry into the Suicide Squad (a “suicide mission” or “ascent-to-the-heavens” squad) began with a bulk delivery of ten Candytrons—devices that, for reasons unknown, fell from the sky. Within a few days, Salt transformed the KaDeWe department store into an improvised launch site for “message-in-a-bottle” style vessels: he suspended a gigantic glass bottle—opening-side up—within the building’s attic, then dismantled the INFINITY and reassembled it inside the bottle. While he was in the process of attaching a Candytron to the aft deck of the INFINITY, a fateful encounter with the crew of the NIMBUS took place, leading Salt to join the Suicide Squad—an initiative conceived by Kokolores.

Skills

Multimedia Instrumental Art

Salt Brah has mastered a wide array of electronic, acoustic, and improvised musical instruments. His unique talent lies in using these instruments to manipulate his environment; for instance, he employs guitar amplifiers as signal jammers or as sonic weapons capable of inciting collective rage.

His instruments rarely serve a single, clear-cut purpose. A “Game Boy orchestra” of his own design might simultaneously incite a crowd to revolution, overload local wireless networks, and—through the power of resonance—shake poorly secured windowpanes right out of their frames.

Technical Improvisation

Salt possesses an extraordinary grasp of electronics and signal processing. Unlike Funky—who builds with precision and rigorously tests complex models beforehand—Salt works intuitively, learning as he goes. He typically starts with a desired effect, then figures out which laws of physics need to be disregarded to achieve it.

His creations are considered ingenious, difficult to replicate, and dangerous. They often bear labels that hint at their improvised nature, such as: “DO NOT PRESS BOTH SWITCHES AT THE SAME TIME—UNLESS THE POLICE ARE PRESENT.”

Oratory and Mass Mobilization

Brah is a compelling speaker with an acute sense for the mood of a crowd. He is capable of transforming a disgruntled group into an organized protest movement in a matter of minutes.

Salt follows no conventional doctrine of leadership. He simply appears wherever resistance is required—and vanishes the moment his newly converted rebels begin to wreak havoc.

Captain of the INFINITY

As captain, Salt combines strategic boldness with a disregard for nautical conventions. He generally leaves precise maneuvers and weapons systems to Funky, while Ciao Von Bella remains in the crow’s nest as an observer. His primary contributions as captain consist of setting an objective and determining the level of escalation.

Relationships

Ciao Von Bella

During the development of Open Wing, Ciao Von Bella was responsible for procuring and conducting training flights for the carrier pigeons—contributing the very expertise that Salt lacked.

While Salt formulates political visions and prefers to test systems under maximum public scrutiny, Ciao possesses the patience and social intelligence required to transform his ideas into functional institutions. Their complementary skill sets have evolved into a long-standing partnership.

Funky.blend

Funky played a key role in helping Salt develop the network topology of Open Wings. Their relationship is defined by productive friction; like Salt, Funky rejects hierarchies and frequently challenges his leadership position. Salt rarely takes offense, viewing her resistance instead as a form of quality control.

Funky on Salt

“Anyone this unhinged has to be either an exceptional leader—or someone who desperately needs to be kicked out of the workshop. So far, it’s a pretty even split.”

Funky perceives a clear moral direction within his madness. She respects the fact that he uses his technical skills to protect others and is willing to bear the consequences of his own decisions. Salt, for his part, values the fact that Funky puts his visions to the test—ensuring they are robust—rather than simply admiring them, as so many others often do.

Brah on Funky

“She always starts by explaining why something won’t work. Then, she builds it even better than I had originally envisioned.”

Kokolores

Salt considers Kokolores to be practical. In his view, her ability to align diverse individuals toward a common goal makes her a useful leader.

Spasti and Fibo

Initially, Salt shows little interest in Spasti and Fibo, viewing them primarily as assistants to Kokolores. While Salt acknowledges Fibo’s intelligence, he finds the latter’s analytical reserve to be unnecessarily polite when faced with problems that, in Salt’s opinion, should have been blown to bits long ago.

Fibo, for his part, considers Brah’s constructions dangerous and irresponsible—a judgment on their quality that Salt finds quite fitting.

Quote

Fibo: “The system lacks sufficient shielding.”
Salt: “It has some. Distance.”

Salt is barely interested in Spasti at first—until he observes his ability to consume various types of fuel and, in turn, produce different kinds of fire.

Salt on Spasti

“He can breathe fire? Why didn’t anyone tell me that sooner?”

Spasti admires Salt’s penchant for insurrection, though he rarely grasps the underlying political context. Salt sees no issue with this; in his experience, revolutions require two types of people: those who write manifestos, and those who throw tables. Spasti, he concludes, is the one responsible for the tables.
